FAQ

Common questions.

Yes. Cat Translator is free to download on the App Store. The free tier includes unlimited sound plays, six chat translations, one free game run, and cat profiles. Pro unlocks unlimited chat and every game, and it is entirely optional.
Not yet. Cat Translator is an iOS app and needs iOS 18.0 or later on iPhone and iPad. Sound classification uses Apple's Sound Analysis framework on device, so an Android version would need to be rebuilt from scratch.
Honestly, no app can literally translate cat language. Cats do not have words, and anyone claiming a scientific translation is overselling it. Cat Translator detects the type of sound your cat made on your device, then writes a playful interpretation around it. Treat it as entertainment that helps you pay closer attention to your cat, not as science.
Your cat's meows, purrs, and chirps are classified on your device using Apple's Sound Analysis framework. The app then turns that classification into a playful, creative translation powered by AI. It is designed for entertainment: fun and imaginative, not scientifically accurate.
Yes. Individual cats have their own personalities, but core vocalisations are similar across breeds. The more you use the app with your cat, the easier it is to spot patterns in their translations.
No. The raw audio of your cat never leaves your phone; sound classification runs entirely on-device. To generate the playful translation, we send only a short text summary (labels and confidence scores) to our service. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Cat Translator requires iOS 18.0 or later. It's compatible with iPhone and iPad.
Absolutely. You can cancel anytime from your iPhone's Subscriptions settings. You'll keep premium access until the end of your current billing period.
Gustav the cat, Product Consultant and Lead Tester for Cat Translator

Built by cat people, for cat people.

We're animal lovers who got tired of guessing what our cats wanted. We built Cat Translator and discovered our cats had plenty to say all along.
